Aigerim Tazhi (Айгерим Тажи) is one of the best-known and most remarkable Kazakh poets. Her debut book of poetry, БОГ-О-СЛОВ (THEO-LOG-IAN) (Kazakhstan, Musaget, 2004), that was called by critics as "one of the most quoted Kazakhstani books of the time", won many international literary prizes. Aigerim Tazhi is the author of the award-winning poetry book Бумажная кожа/Paper-Thin Skin, published in a bilingual edition (Russian/English) by Zephyr Press (USA, 2019). The book received positive reviews from Asian, American and European critics. According to reviews of her poetry, critics noted "Tazhi’s poems have been widely praised as a fresh new voice and for blazing a new direction among the youngest generation of Kazakh poets" and that "In Aigerim Tazhi’s poetry, we may find the marvelous that drew us to poetry to begin with".

Aigerim has been awarded numerous international literary prizes. She won the International Literary Steps Prize in poetry (Moscow, 2003). Twice she was the Laureate for the International Shabyt Festival (Astana). In 2011, she was a finalist for the International Debut Prize (Moscow) in Poetry. In 2019, Aigerim Tazhi was included in the prize list of the International Literary Poetry Prize (Moscow). Later that year, she became a finalist of the International Literary Voloshin Contest (Moscow). Her book Бумажная кожа/Paper-Thin Skin was included to "2019's Top Books" by Meduza, to the list of "The most Notable Translations of 2019" by World Literature Today. The translation of Tazhi's book was supported by the Translation Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts (USA). The collection was also awarded The Käpylä Translation Prize (UCONN). Aigerim Tazhi was named “Person of the Year” by the Aktobe Region for 2006. The Steppe listed Aigerim Tazhi among "The Literary Classics of the XXI Century".

Her poems have been featured in many notable literary magazines and anthologies, including Novy Mir, Znamya, Druzhba Narodov, Vozdukh, Novaya Yunost, Apollinariy Magazine, and more.

Tazhi's work has been translated into English, French, Dutch, German, Arabic, Polish, Kazakh, Armenian, Uzbek, Azerbaijani and other languages and published in prominent literary magazines and anthologies of various countries in Europe, Asia and Americas, including The Kenyon Review, The Massachusetts Review, Prairie Schooner, Atlanta Review, Colorado Review, Stand, St. Petersburg Review, Words Without Borders, The Common, Chtenia/Readings, Fulcrum: an anthology of poetry and aesthetics, Salamander, Two Lines, Cyphers, and more.  

Aigerim has performed at a variety of international literary events, book fairs, forums, festivals, among them the Poetry International Festival Rotterdam (The Netherlands).
She is a Fellow in Writing of the International Writing Program IWP 2023 in Iowa City, USA. 

Aigerim Tazhi is the author of several projects at the crossroad of poetry and other forms of art, including visual art and music. She is the creator of the unique project merging literary installations and performances, The Visible Poetry (Наглядная поэзия), launched in 2009.

Aigerim Tazhi was born in Kazakhstani city of Aktobe and now lives in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
